Worth knowing about Yogyakarta
- Yogyakarta's main airport is not near the city: YIA is in Temon District, Kulon Progo Regency, roughly 45 km out. The old Adisutjipto (JOG), only about 6 km from the centre, kept a limited domestic schedule after YIA took over in 2020, so confirm which code your ticket shows.
- The YIA airport rail link reaches Yogyakarta's main station in 35 to 39 minutes with about 50 trips a day; the dedicated airport branch line opened in September 2021. The regular Airport Train stops at Wates, the Airport Train Xpress does not.
- Adisutjipto (JOG) is one of the few Indonesian airports with a commuter station at the door: Maguwo Station on the KAI Commuter Yogyakarta Line to Solo Balapan connects to the terminal via a tunnel.
