Worth knowing about Lombok
- Lombok has exactly one commercial airport, LOP at Tanak Awu in Central Lombok; it replaced Selaparang Airport in Mataram when it opened in October 2011, so all scheduled arrivals to the island land here.
- The airport sits about 27 km from Mataram and only about 6 km from Praya, so the transfer to the main tourist bases in the west and north of the island is long by Indonesian island standards.
- DAMRI airport shuttle buses to Mataram, Ampenan, Senggigi and Selong run only between 07:00 and 17:00 daily, so arrivals outside those hours depend on the taxi counter.
- Scheduled international service at LOP is limited to a handful of routes to Malaysia and Singapore, so most foreign visitors arrive on a domestic connection from Jakarta, Surabaya or Bali.
