Careers

Six open roles. All remote. Everyone answers customers.

We are hiring across network, engineering, data, support, design and content. The work sample is paid, the process is four steps and usually finishes inside two weeks, and we tell you no quickly rather than leaving you to guess.

Orbislo sells connectivity to people who are far from home, often tired, often at the worst moment of a trip. That fact shapes every job here, including the ones that never speak to a customer directly.

No headquarters. A working day that overlaps by at least four hours.

Where a role is open to somebody early in their career we say so in the row, rather than writing junior in the title and senior in the requirements.

Network · Experienced

Network partnerships manager

Remote, Europe, UTC to UTC plus 3

Negotiate and hold the wholesale agreements that decide whether a country works. You will be the person who says no to a territory we cannot serve properly.

Engineering · Experienced

Backend engineer, provisioning

Remote, UTC minus 5 to UTC plus 3

Own the path from payment to a working profile, including the automatic refund that fires when it fails. The provisioning success target is yours.

Data · Experienced

Data engineer, coverage

Remote, UTC minus 3 to UTC plus 5

Turn real customer traffic into published medians without ever letting a thin sample reach a page. Privacy design is part of the job rather than a review gate at the end.

Support · Open to a first or second job

Support specialist, Japanese and English

Remote, UTC plus 7 to UTC plus 9

Answer travellers quickly at the hours Asia Pacific is awake. You can approve a refund up to 200 dollars without asking anyone.

Design · Experienced

Product designer, purchase path

Remote, UTC minus 5 to UTC plus 2

Design a checkout that puts the throttle number on the buy button and still converts. Accessibility is a requirement here, at the higher bar on purchase critical text.

Content · Open to a first or second job

Writer, destination and help content

Remote, any time zone with four hours of overlap

Write country pages and help articles that answer in the first sentence and carry a number wherever an adjective would go. Every live destination needs you.

What it is like to work here

We are remote and written first. Decisions live in documents rather than in meetings, because a meeting only informs the people who were in the room and a document informs the person who joins in March.

If a decision was made and there is no document, the decision did not happen, and somebody is entitled to reopen it.

Everyone takes a support rotation, one week in eight, engineers included. It is not a gesture. Support is where the product tells you the truth about itself, and the fastest route from a complaint to a fix is a person who can do both.

There is an on call rotation, because people depend on this abroad in the middle of their night. It is compensated, it is capped, and the person who was paged overnight does not work the following day. We would rather lose the day than build a culture that treats exhaustion as commitment.

What we do not do

No growth hacking and no dark patterns. No countdown timer that resets when you reload. No fake scarcity. No pre ticked upsell. No subscription that takes two taps to start and an email to cancel. No cookie wall in front of the content. If a tactic only works because the customer did not notice, we do not run it, and nobody here will be asked to build it.
  • No unpaid take home exercises, ever
  • No trick interview questions and no whiteboard algorithm theatre
  • No performance review that ranks people against each other on a curve
  • No open plan office, because there is no office
  • No expectation of replies outside your working hours unless you are on call and paid for it
  • No job advert that says rockstar, ninja or family

How to apply

Before you apply, it is worth reading what we sell. The pricing page shows the wallet rate falling as the balance grows. The coverage pages show the measured medians with sample counts. The store shows the destinations you would be responsible for.

If any of it looks dishonest to you, tell us in your application. That is a good first contribution.

  • Write to careers at orbislo.com with the role in the subject line
  • Send a link to something you made and one paragraph on what you would change about it now
  • We reply either way inside five working days, including the no
  • If it is a yes, the first call is 30 minutes and you can ask about money in it
  • The work sample is about four hours, paid at the rate of the role, done at your own pace

Questions people actually ask

Is this genuinely remote or remote until somebody changes their mind?
Genuinely remote. There is no headquarters to be summoned to. We hire in time zones between UTC minus 5 and UTC plus 9 so that a working day overlaps by at least four hours, and we meet in person twice a year for a week each time.
Do engineers really take support shifts?
Yes, one week in eight, answering real customers. It is the cheapest bug tracker we have ever run. The person who wrote the provisioning retry loop reading fourteen tickets about it changes the retry loop faster than any dashboard does.
What is the interview process?
A 30 minute call, a paid work sample of about four hours at your own pace, a conversation about that work sample, and a call with somebody you would work with daily. Four steps, usually inside two weeks, and we tell you no quickly rather than slowly.
Do you pay for the work sample?
Yes, at the rate the role would pay, whether or not we make an offer. Unpaid take home exercises filter for people with spare evenings rather than for people who are good.
What do you not do here?
No growth hacking, no dark patterns, no pre ticked boxes, no countdown timers, no fake scarcity, no subscription that is easier to start than to stop, and no cookie wall over the content. If a tactic only works because the customer did not notice, it is not on the table.
Do you hire junior people?
Yes, and we say so in the role rather than writing junior in the title and senior in the requirements. Two of the six roles are open to somebody in their first or second job, and both are marked that way.
Nothing here fits me. Should I still write?
Yes, if you can point at something you made and explain the decision you would do differently now. Send that rather than a cover letter. Speculative applications get a real answer inside two weeks.
