Worth knowing about Siem Reap
- Siem Reap's airport moved a long way out of town. Siem Reap Angkor International (SAI) opened on 16 October 2023 roughly 50 km east of the city and replaced the old Siem Reap International Airport, which sat close to Angkor Wat; the transfer is now a long road trip, not a short hop.
- The airport shuttle bus counter is on the left after you exit the arrivals terminal, and free Wi-Fi is provided in that waiting area useful if you land without a working data connection.
- The shuttle bus does not do hotel pickups or drop-offs. It runs airport-to-terminus only, ending at the city bus station on 7 Makara Road opposite ACE School; for a hotel door you need the airport's tuk-tuk service or a taxi.
- Siem Reap has no metro, tram or commuter rail. Ground transport from the airport is limited to shuttle buses, taxis and tuk-tuks.
