Underground and on the metro
Macau Light Rapid Transit (LRT) runs 3 lines. It opened in 2019. The operator does not publish whether the tunnels carry a mobile signal, so we do not claim either way.
Worth knowing about Macau
- The Macau LRT is a mainly elevated light metro rather than a subway, and its Airport station sits at the terminal's north exit.
- The airport was built on reclaimed land off Taipa island, so it is on the islands rather than the Macau Peninsula where most hotels are.
- The LRT link from Taipa to Barra on the peninsula opened only in December 2023, before which the airport had no rail connection to the peninsula at all.
- Macau's government-run WiFi Go public hotspots limit each session to 45 minutes.
