Getting into Interlaken

Worth knowing about Interlaken
- Interlaken has no airport; it is reached by rail, and Zurich Airport's underground station has direct trains to Interlaken so no city transfer is needed.
- The town has two separate stations, Interlaken West and Interlaken Ost, and the mountain railways to Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald and the Jungfraujoch all leave from Ost.
- Interlaken Ost has hourly or better ICE service to Basel, with some trains continuing to Hamburg or Berlin, so the town is a direct international rail terminus despite its size.
- The road link south to Valais goes through the Lotschberg rail tunnel on a car-carrying service rather than over the pass.
