Underground and on the metro
Warsaw Metro (Metro Warszawskie) runs 2 lines. It opened in 1995. The operator does not publish whether the tunnels carry a mobile signal, so we do not claim either way.
Worth knowing about Warsaw
- The Warsaw Metro does not serve Chopin Airport: plans for a third line to the airport were abandoned and the airport was given a railway station instead.
- Chopin Airport's railway station is underground and only opened in June 2012, in time for Euro 2012.
- Warsaw's low-cost airport, Modlin, is 40 km north of the city and has no station of its own; a 4 km shuttle bus links it to Modlin railway station.
- The Warsaw Metro's 39 stations across lines M1 and M2 are fully underground.
