Getting into Podgorica

Worth knowing about Podgorica
- Podgorica Airport has a railway halt called Aerodrom on the Belgrade-Bar line, but it is 1.2 km from the terminal and served irregularly, so it is rarely usable.
- The airport is only 5 km south of the city and the drive in usually takes under 15 minutes.
- Since the Sozina tunnel opened in 2006 the Montenegrin coast is about an hour's drive from Podgorica Airport.
- The airport's commercial outlets that sell mobile top ups are Tabacco S Press in the south arrivals hall and a tobacco shop in the north arrivals hall.
- Tabacco S Press in the south arrivals hall sells prepaid and electronic top ups for the Telenor, Telekom and M:tel mobile networks.
- The bus station at Podgorica Airport is in front of the terminal inside the bus parking area. BTC Zeta, MS Tours and Zejdin run to the Central Bus Station, and Zejdin also to Ulcinj.
- Tickets for the airport buses are bought on the bus itself or online at busticket4.me, and the airport warns that the published timetables change and should be checked with the operators.
- The airport publishes driving times from the terminal: Bar 46 km in 55 minutes, Cetinje 40 km in 39 minutes, Niksic 62 km in 1 hour 2 minutes and Zabljak 133 km in 2 hours 13 minutes.
- The airport's suggested route from Sutomore on the coast runs through the Sozina tunnel, which it gives as 4,185 metres long, and then past Skadar Lake.
- A single ticket on Podgorica city buses costs 0.90 euro and is valid for 90 minutes. A monthly card is valid on all lines and all operators in the capital.
- Monthly bus cards are sold at counters in the Assembly of the Capital building, entrance from Trg nezavisnosti, on weekdays from 08:00 to 15:00 and on Saturdays.
- Topping up a Podgorica monthly card on the ePodgorica portal requires the phone number that was recorded when the card was made, which a visitor with a new number will not have.
- The city operator's published line list covers Podgorica and its suburbs and names no airport line. The airport instead lists three intercity operators for its bus link.
- Roaming charges within the Western Balkans were eliminated on 1 July 2021, so a Montenegrin number roams at domestic rates in Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia.
- Montenegro is not in the EU's Roam Like at Home area. The European Commission only proposed opening negotiations to extend it to the Western Balkans on 25 February 2026.
