Worth knowing about Kaunas
- Kaunas Airport is in Karmelava, about 15 km northeast of the city, and the only public link is city bus 29, which takes around half an hour.
- There is no rail link to Kaunas Airport, unlike Vilnius Airport, which has its own station.
- Kaunas buses and trolleybuses take contactless Visa and Mastercard, or a linked phone, watch or ring, for a 1 euro single fare valid to the last stop of the route.
- Kaunas drivers still sell single tickets for cash on board, so an arriving traveller needs neither a local card, an app nor mobile data to ride.
- Kaunas's Ziogas ticketing app and its linked card sell a single journey for 0.70 euro, below the 1 euro cash or contactless fare, and cap monthly spending at a season ticket price.
