Getting into Varna
- City bus line 409 (VAR), about 20 minutes
Worth knowing about Varna
- Bus 409 leaves from the bus station directly in front of Terminal 2 Arrivals, with no more than 15 minutes between departures, and reaches the city centre in under 20 minutes; the same line continues to the Golden Sands resort in about 50 minutes.
- Airport shops and services run 24/7 only in the summer season. For the rest of the year they open with each arriving flight and two hours before each departure, so an off-season arrival can find the retail area shut.
- Varna is a strongly seasonal airport, with peak traffic from the end of May to the beginning of October; outside that window the route network shrinks sharply.
- Varna has no metro or urban rail. The airport is about 10 km from the centre and the only scheduled public link is the city bus; Varna's main railway station is a separate trip from the airport.
